3 for 500

Following on from the Winter Short Story Event we’re launching another event, 3 for 500. The idea is you give me 3 words(they can be completely random) and I’ll write a short story about it of up to 500 words.

So that’s it. No catch, no sign-up. Free content, published right here on the site. Filling the form below is all you need to join!

So there we are. That’s all you have to do is think of 3 words and then I’ve got the fun job of creating a story.

First mental health post

So here we go

I think the best place to start would be talking about my own mental health.

I’m going to be sharing a lot of my own mental health story. Through this story, hopefully I can help others like me.

But you’re a writer not a psychologist!

I hold no medical experience at all. But I do and always will live with my mental health every single day.

I didn’t want to create a site that just spewed medical advice at you and then expected you to get on with it.

Instead a real, down to earth site where I use my own story to give you some tips and show you you’re not alone. You’ve probably been told that countless times before.

I don’t just want to repeat stuff you already know, but I want to give you some actionable advice based on my own journey to help you.

So my journey

I was 11 I started suffering from mental health issues. When the most important person in your life turns their back on you through no fault of your own, it makes you feel in limbo, worthless. Thoughts that fueled my depression.

I fell into a cycle of feeling depressed, having anxiety about what was happening to me, then lashing out at myself and others around me because I didn’t feel like I deserved their love.

Where I am now

Well, I still suffer every day. The hardest thing is the situation can change it’s just not wanted by others.

However, thankfully I’m doing a lot better. I’ve had to manage on the most part by myself. Through the strength of friends and trial and error, I discovered what worked and what didn’t. Now, it doesn’t affect me as much as it did – now I have the ways of dealing with it.

So what do I want for you?

I’ve always tried to help people, first starting at ChildLine and then a group of close friends. Now I’m talking about mental health on Twitter, Instagram and more!

Now, I want to help you too. Mental health is hard. You need every ounce of strength from yourself and those around you. Hopefully, when you read something it’ll make you feel better.

So what kind of content can you expect?

Well, it’s anything really. I’m going to be sharing my story, giving tips and general advice and whatever else you need to get better.

There will be a few longer blog post but I’ll mainly focus on short content which just joins the conversation.

I want to build the support network although I blog about mental health it’s the conversations we have here and on social media, that really matter. That’s why my emails and messages are open if you need anything.

But it’s also about helping each other. Mental Monday is a great example of this, where really I just facilitate the conversation. I want to create a group were we all help each other, not just me talking.

So now we’ve got the introductions out the way welcome to the site. I look forward to talking with you.

Contact me on any social I’m on and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

Slight changes – back at school

Schools in session for another term

But don’t worry, if you need to hire a writer I am still around

This is your ultimate guide to everything that will be happening while I’m at school, and detail the alternate schedule.

If you want to hire me I’m available 4-10PM Mon-Fri. I also work Saturday and Sunday hours vary.

As usual Mental Monday will take place at 7PM on YouTube. This live Q&A event has now expanded so it also appears other days of the week, but the main live show is every Monday.

Tuesday – Thursday

I’m yours for the taking! If you have any writing that needs doing these three days are dedicated to clearing my work. With a typing speed in excess of 100WPM I can mutilate even large articles in short periods of time.

Although by no means does this exclude other days, these are just the days I solely dedicate to freelance writing.

And it’s New Content Friday! That’s right. They’ll either be a short story or a blog post appear here, as well as something on Wattpad. Social media channels are updated daily with new content also.

A collecting day really. Collecting all jobs in and rounding up those which I haven’t finished. Most of the day, however, is spent shooting images, sorting social media posts for the week and collecting everything ready for the week ahead.

Sunday is a special day. There will be one piece of special content released every Sunday. Be that a long-form blog post, an infographic, or even a video, Suprise Sunday’s could have all manner of things taking place with them.

So there we go. This is a day-by-day guide to all the content which will be appearing, where you can find it and what you can do with it. If you have any questions leave them in the comments.

2019 Plans

What are your 2019 plans?

2019 is now only a few days away.

So it’s time we revealed our plans too.

2019s going to be our first full year. We’re hitting the ground running.

Let’s start with content

The Darkness is finally unveiled.

The Darkness hype has been building for a while with various mentions on Stay Swimming’s Mental Monday’s. At midnight the Dedications, The Prologue and Chapter One are all going to be revealed on WattPad.

From then on a chapter will be released every week. Following the journey of two children, Zach and Lilly, I’m using the story to promote mental health awareness as an extension of my mental health blog Stay Swimming.

Stepping up short stories

There will be many short stories which will appear on the site over the next year. I don’t have a specific schedule for them but I would like there to be a lot more. I’m also working on increasing the length of the stories as well, giving you even more content to get your teeth into in the new year.

Social Media

It’s been mentioned many times before that I don’t post as much as I should on social media but that’s changing in 2019.

The regulars of my Instagram would have noticed that there’s already an increase in posts and the same will be replicated on Twitter and Pinterest.

Let’s move onto my work

Ok so it’s well known I offer writing services as that’s advertised on my homepage. But did you know I offer transcribing and data entry too? An updated list of all my freelance services will be released at the start of 2019.

I’ll also be taking on a lot more work over 2019. As the foundations are mainly in place now, I have less work to do in learning about freelancing, setting up websites etc… If you want to hire me for the new year please fill out a handy contact form.

Let’s now round it off

There will be lots of events and special content which would not nearly be as special if I said what they were now. So look out at our blog, follow us on Twitter and be notified when new content is released straight away.

I love writing, and there’s going to be plenty of it across 2019. But enough about what I’m going to do. What content would you like to see?

Drop a comment below with any suggestions for content for 2019. They could be short stories, events, blogs, or anything else you would like to be doing in 2019.

Well, before I end, I want to thank everyone who’s made this website such a success over the last year. Thank’s to all the other writers, who have gone out of their way to provide support, advice and encouragement which was much needed when I was hitting dead ends.

Finally, thank you for everyone reading this. It’s such an honor to be at a young age, but still able to be supported, and to gain an audience.
